Braces are changing. As an adult, metal braces can be off-putting: they can make you feel self-conscious, meaning you smile less often and feel less confident during the process of teeth straightening. Invisible braces are the solution. They are rising in popularity and are now the most widely used teeth straightening solution for adults. Virtually unnoticeable, you can feel confident throughout the process – not just at the end.
What are invisible braces?
Invisible braces are subtle and unnoticeable braces that gradually improve the alignment of your teeth over a course of several months. In comparison to standard braces, they allow you to feel confident in your smile during the process, eat normally and comfortably, and maintain good oral hygiene as easily as without braces. They are made from high quality, clear acrylic, creating an invisible effect. Every set of braces is tailored-made specifically to you using the latest 3D printing and scanning technology. They slot like a shield over your teeth, fitting perfectly so they are unnoticeable to those who don’t know they’re there. Over the course of your treatment, you’ll receive several aligners with each one slightly different from the last. They gradually encourage your teeth to move to the correct position through a process of gentle and positive change.
Here at Churchfield Dental Centre in Barnsley, we use Smilelign invisible braces. It’s one of the most popular options for dentists throughout the UK. We use it as it boasts the highest quality material and the latest technology. The quality of acrylic means that you get the clearest appearance and most invisible effect, while the 3D CADCAM technology gives comprehensive imaging of your teeth and mouth. It allows your dentist to provide the best care and most effective treatment.

Advice and help
If you’re interested in using invisible braces as a teeth straightening solution, the first step is to get in touch with us and book your FREE consultation. At this appointment one of our dentists will examine your teeth and advise you on the best process for your specific needs.
Imaging
Moulds are taken of your teeth then a computer scans the moulds and builds a 3D picture. It means that every step of the process is completely centred on your unique needs. Computer software then uses the images to create a step-by-step plan of how your teeth need to move in order to achieve the perfect smile. Using this technology we can also provide you with computer generated before and after pictures of your smile.
Aligners
Aligners are simply the name for each of your invisible braces. We use 3D printing to create each one as a perfect match to you. The aligners are usually changed every few weeks according to the way your teeth are progressing.
Daily use
Invisible braces are worn for a minimum of twenty-one hours a day. You take them out for eating and brushing your teeth. This means that, unlike standard braces, you can eat comfortably and normally, and maintaining good oral hygiene is much easier. Your dentist will advise you on the best practises to keep your teeth, gums and mouth healthy throughout your treatment.
The finished result
For those with minor misalignments, the process will be much faster than those with more complex problems, but on average it takes between six and twelve months. During your initial examination, your dentist will be able to suggest how long it is likely to take to create your new smile. When the treatment is complete, you’ll be left with a perfectly aligned set of teeth, restoring your confidence in your appearance. All our patients leave the room smiling!
